Count down to a date

Countdown to a date runs to one moment, and every shopper sees the same moment, wherever they are. Use it for an offer with a real end.

Set it up

1. Create a timer or open one. New product, bar and landing timers already count down to a date one day out.
2. On the Content tab, choose Countdown to a date.
3. Enter the end date and time. They are in the timezone set in your Shopify settings, not the timezone of the browser you are using.
4. Choose what happens once it ends: unpublish, which is the default, show a custom title, or do nothing and stay at zero.
5. Set the design on the Design tab and where it shows on the Placement tab.
6. Choose Publish.

Check it on your store

Open a page where the timer shows and compare the time left with the clock in your shop timezone. If the deadline is an hour out, the shop timezone in your Shopify settings is probably not the one you think, and daylight saving is the usual cause. Fix it in Shopify rather than moving the deadline. The app picks up a timezone change from Shopify by itself.

Good to know

• Unpublish happens by itself. The storefront hides the timer at zero, and the app unpublishes it within a minute, without you opening the app.
• A custom title keeps the timer on the page after zero, showing your own text.
• To start it later, add a scheduled start, as in Schedule a timer to start later.
• Email timers always count to a date, and at zero show 00:00:00:00 or a message of yours.
