Show a timer only in some countries
Applies to: TreStack Timer
Updated: 5 November 2026
- Country from: Shopify, for each visit
- Default: All the world
- Two versions: The country timer replaces the all the world one
A timer can show only to visitors in the countries you choose. The country is the one Shopify has for the visit, not a lookup service of ours.
Set it up
- Open the timer in TreStack Timer, or create one. Country targeting is covered for product page timers, bars and landing page timers.
- On the Placement tab, choose the placement first. Changing the placement later clears the products, collections and exclusions chosen under it.
- Set the countries: switch from All the world to specific countries, and search the list by name or code.
- Choose Publish.
To give one market its own version of a sale, keep your main timer on All the world and create a second timer of the same type and placement for that country. Visitors in that country see the country timer, and the all the world timer steps aside for them, so neither shows twice.
Check it on your store
Visit the page the timer is placed on. If your store has a country selector, set it to the country you targeted and reload: the shopper's choice there can change the country Shopify has for the visit. Then set it to another country and check the timer goes, or that the all the world version comes back.
Good to know
- Published and running. A country timer that does not show for a visitor in that country is often unpublished, or not running right now because of a scheduled start or an ended countdown.
- One timer per spot. Placement priority still applies: one product timer, one bar and one landing timer per page.
How placement, priority and countries fit together is in Placement, countries, and translations.
Add a countdown to a marketing email
Build an email timer, copy its HTML snippet from the Code tab and paste it into Shopify Email, Klaviyo or any tool that accepts HTML, then test it on two devices.
Translate a timer's text
Write a timer's text for each of your store languages, so shoppers read it in their language and see your default language wherever a translation is missing.
