Set up a Buy X, get Y deal

Sell a set of the same product with some items free or discounted, as in Buy 2, get 1 free: from the template to a published deal, and how checkout counts the sets.

A Buy X, get Y bar sells a set of the same product with some items free or discounted, as in Buy 2, get 1 free.

Set it up

  1. In TreStack Bundles, choose Create bundle deal. On Choose a discount type, pick Buy X, get Y (BXGY) deal.
  2. Open Products and choose where the deal shows: All products, Selected products or Selected collections.
  3. Open Deal bars. The template starts with three bars: Buy 1 get 1, Buy 2 get 3, and Buy 3 get 6. The third bar's gift line, "+ FREE special gift!", is text only: pick a gift product for it or delete it.

  1. To add an offer, choose Add bar, then Buy X, get Y. A new bar starts with the bought items at full price and one extra item free.
  2. On each bar, set Buy: how many items the shopper pays for, and their Price.
  3. Set Get: how many items come free or discounted, and their Price. To make them free, pick Percentage off and enter 100.

  1. Write the Title, Subtitle and Label. The variables {{buy_quantity}} and {{get_quantity}} fill in the bar's quantities.
  2. Tick Selected by default on the bar shoppers should see selected when the page opens.
  3. Choose Publish.

Check it on your store

Open the product page, pick a bar and add it to the cart. Then raise the quantity in the cart: checkout counts whole sets of buy plus get items. With Buy 2, get 1 free and 7 items in the cart, that is 2 whole sets, so the 2 cheapest items are free and the other 5 are at the buy price.

Good to know

  • The cheapest items are the free ones. In each complete set, the get items are the cheapest items of that product in the cart, whichever variant the shopper had in mind.
  • Every item is one variant at first. In a deal from this template, every item of a bar is the same variant until you turn on Let customers choose different variants for each item in Settings, Variants.
  • Items added elsewhere count too. To limit the discount to the widget, turn on Apply discount only via bundle widget in Settings, Visibility.

Set up a quantity break deal

Offer a lower price per item for buying more of the same product, as in Buy 2, save 15%: from the template to a published deal, and how to check the price in the cart.

Give a volume discount across different products

Let shoppers mix products to reach a quantity break, as in any 3, save 15%: turning on Volume discount with other products, choosing which products count, and checking the cart.
